Most of the institutions dealt with are fraudulent, quackish or low-grade schools and diploma mills, but the files also include schools specializing in homeopathic, naturopathic, and other alternative forms of medicine. There also is information on offshore or foreign medical schools and on publications dealing with medical schools.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration originated as part of the Dept. of Agriculture.
